Lydia Borntreger Chorpening as a child

The Lord brought me out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet upon a rock and established my goings. He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it and shall fear and trust in the Lord. See Psalm 40.

Having been raised Amish, it was rare for me to have my picture taken, especially to capture me with a real smile (a self-imposed frown was the usual). This picture was taken as my siblings and I walked past a neighbor's house and I was signaled out for a solo picture (thus the smile).
Years later, after I was married, I was able to contact our former neighbors, and they amazingly found this photo and sent it to me. I was around the age of ten when this was taken in Missouri.
